Fed: Major parties play down federal implications from Qld poll

CANBERRA, Jan 13 AAP - A senior Labor insider today summed up the top three issues
for the coming Queensland state election.

"It's Peter Beattie first, second and third."

The Queensland premier is sending his state's voters to the polls on February 7, ensuring
his state's election is out of the way well ahead of a federal election, due later in
the year.

Given Mr Beattie's stranglehold on power, it will be difficult to read too many federal
implications into the state …
