Fed: New year revellers should check Y2K status of buildings

The federal government has warned that people planning to visit a high rise building
on New Year's Eve should check its Y2K status first.

Communications parliamentary secretary IAN CAMPBELL says while there's no reason why
the millennium bug should affect New Year's Eve plans, it's best to check access arrangements
for big buildings.

He's said in a statement that many building managers had chosen to restrict access
to buildings over the period or limit access until checks were done.
